Top 6 Tile Trends for 2018

To learn more about the top tile trends for 2018 we caught up with Liam Gallagher, Managing Director of Castelnau Tiles, London Tile Boutique with showrooms in Kingston and Barnes - Enjoy!

  1. Mixing Materials

There are lots of fabulous material themed tiles available - concrete effect, wood effect, marble effect, limestone effect and in 2018 it's all about mixing and matching these for a super modern look.

  1. Rugging

After appearing on homes styling shows like Ideal Home Show and Grand Design Live, Rugging is set to take off in 2018. A block of patterned tiles is surrounded by plainer tiles, to create an 'area' or 'zone' within an open plan living space. A very cool and practical alternative to the traditional rug!

  1. Patterned Encaustic Tiles

Encaustic Tiles are hugely popular right now and are set to remain so in 2018. You can choose one pattern tile and repeat or a mixture for a patchwork effect. Encaustic Tiles are on the more expensive side so don't be afraid to look at encaustic-effect or other patterned tiles if your budget is on the slightly smaller side.

  1. Think BIG

Think BIG in 2018 with more and more tiles becoming available in HUGE sizes. Castelnau Tiles offer 120cm super long wood-effect tiles; marble tiles in 120x240cm and 150x300cm, and concrete tiles in 75x150cm. Remember the larger the tile the bigger the room looks!

  1. Mosaic Tiles

Mosaic Tiles are making a comeback! Not only square mosaics but shapes like the round penny tile and tiny hexagonal tile provide a wonderful way to add interesting texture and detail.

  1. Seamless Indoor to Outdoor Living

If in 2018 you are planning to decorate inside and landscape your garden then this trend could be just for you! Run the same tiles inside your home out into your garden to blur the lines between inside and out and encourage better use of your outdoor living space. Get ready now for a spring and summer of relaxing in the fresh air and lots of alfresco dining.
